The development bank of Nigeria is a financial institution that exists to reduce the financing constraints faced by Micro, small and medium scale enterprises(MSMEs) in Nigeria through financing, partial credit guarantees and technical assistance to eligible financial intermediaries on a market conforming and fully financially sustainable basis.

The DBN started operations in the year 2017, with 26 Private Financial institutions on-board, 35 000 MSMEs imparted and a disbursal of 31, 364, 000, 000 Naira disbursed.

Its beautiful to note that all MSEMs (both start-ups and existing) involved in productive enterprises are eligible for this loan, although such persons must be customers of an elligible financial institution,

the following steps are the sure way to apply for the loan,

  • visit your Bank; This could be a commercial bank, development finance institution, micro-finance bank and other financial institution. Indicate that you want to apply for a DBN loan.
  • The Bank will appraise (EVALUATE) the business and loan purpose, and if its evaluation is favorable, the bank applies to the DBN for funding.
  • once the loan is approved by the DBN, it will disburse the funds to the bank for on-lending to end borrowers.
